Problems With the Titles in my Film

During the making of my film I had various difficulties with the titles standing out. The reason why I have experienced these difficulties is because the colours black and white are used in my film. The protagonist is dressed in a black jacket and the snow that has fell on the ground would not make white titles visable. The title colour I may have to use may be a bright colour, I will esure that the colour has some relation to the film.

A colour such as grey may be used. The reason why the colour grey may be used is because it is a colour that is not s odrak as black s oyou would be able to see it agaist the costume of the charater. also grey is darker than the colour of the snow, so therefore grey would be a good option. The only problem with the colour grey is that it has no real relevance to my film.

Another colour that could be used maybe used is red. The reason why red may be used is because it will not blend into any of the background of my film. Also an advantage of using red is that red represents blood. The idea is that the antagonist will go through anything, even killing the protagonist to get what he wants.

How I have changed my film from my first draft

- I have changed the fade from white so it is played at the start of my film.

- I have changed the way the titles enter my film. Instead of the sliding in in a curly font they now appear at the same point of my film but not in the middle of my screen but at the bottom. The text it also not curly but a bold black print. The font that I have chosen to use is Times New Roman, the reason why I have chosen this font is because it is much more serious and easier to understand, Times New Roman is also more suitable to the thriller henre.

- I have also changed the sound that is being played at the point where the protagonist enters her bedroom. The new sound I have chosen is not as cheery but more serious sounding. The orginal sound that I was using in my film was very cheery this new sound is much more serious and it also sound like a build up to something that may be happening in my film.

First Draft of my Film

This is the first draft of my film. After viewing my film I have seen many ways that it could be changed for the better.

The fade from white that I have used in my film should be placed at the very start of my film, instead it is a couple of shots in.

With my titles although they stood out and were bold, they could also be changed. Instead of them sliding into the shot I think it would look better if I had the titles more towards the bottom of the screen and the text much bolder. After looking at other films as well I think that I should insert the directors and producers name into the titles, which is myself.

After re-listening to the music playing when the protagonist is taking her jewelery off, I think the music needs to be changed. The reason why I think the music needs to be changed is because when looking back it does not fit the image of the protagonist. The music I may use for the final peice will be more serious and not as cheery.

My film Title

When I name my film I want to have something that is easy to remember and catchy.

When I Began thinking about film names, my initial idea was to call my film 'The Heist'. Heist is a word used to describe a type of robbery which would of been ideal for my film. After researching the name 'The Heist' I discovered that there are many films with the same or similar title so I decided again the idea.

I also thought of the name '24'. The reason why I was going to call my film '24' is because '24' will relate to 24 carat gold. In my film the antagonist wants to steal valuables and 24 carat gold is very expensive. I decided against the idea of calling my film '24' because as with The Heist the name has already been taken. There is an American television series called '24'.

I decided to use the title 'AU 79'. The reason why I have chosen to name my film 'AU 79' is because AU is the symbol for gold and '79' is the atomic number according to the periodic table of elements.

The use of newspapers in my film and other films.

Newspapers can have completely different representations, they can be known in films for the characters to be receiving the latest news or for characters to be using them for leisure, such as the crosswords. Also in most newspapers there will be columns filled with things such as vouchers and competitions.

Broadsheet newspapers tend to be shown in films where there are business men. Broadsheets are filled with the latest news both in the UK and the international news. They are aimed at highly educated people.

The Daily Telegraph is a broadsheet newspaper, here is an example;

Tabloids are also widely read newspapers. More tabloid newspapers are sold throughout the UK than broadsheet newspapers. Tabloid newspapers are aimed at general members of the public, although they do have the last national and international news the tabloid newspapers also publish allot of celebrity orientated articles, the news printed also in these newspapers are usually national or local news.

The Sun is a tabloid newspaper is a tabloid newspaper, here is an example;

The newspaper that will be used in my film is the Daily Mail, here is an example;

The reason why I have chosen to use the tabloid newspaper; the Daily Mail in my film because most professional people do want to keep up to date with the latest news but they also want to see leisure articles in the papers. Tabloids who publish large news stories and leisure articles include, Daily Mail and the Daily Express. So these newspapers combine broadsheet news articles with tabloid celebrity gossip. The Daily Mirror is also similar however, they tend to focus on celebrity gossip more than the latest news.

Sounds that may be used in my Film

Thunder and lightning sounds may be played into my film at appropriate times during the opening of my film. Towards the end of the opening part of my film I may use a sound effect like thunder and lighting to show the house that the protagonists lives in to be vulnerable. Thunder and lightning also shows a sense scariness. Or I may have the Sound of trees swaying as this has the same effect.

I will also have a clock ticking sound playing when the antagonist is looking at his watch. The reason why I will have this playing is because he makes the antagonist look even more under pressure.

I may also have classical music playing on the clip where the protagonist is walking upto her house. The reason why I will play classical music is because he is relaxed and is unaware of what is about to happen.

The sound of a a van may also be played on the last shot of my film. The reason why I only want the sound to play in the Background an the audience not phyiscally see the van is because I want to keep the audience hooked and also not to reveal is the van is the antagonists van.
